At GitHub Universe 2026, GitHub launched Copilot Fusion, a system that routes requests across AI models and coordinates them within tasks. Independent testing by Artificial Analysis showed Fusion Max averaged $5.59 per task, about 51% lower than Claude Opus 5.5's $11.42, while trailing by only two points in performance and completing tasks about 40% faster. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella cited potential savings of up to 77%.
